Why is it that sometimes it's hard to forgive oneself ? Sometimes it's easier to forgive people of their mistakes while we cannot forgive ourselves easily ? What can you say about this ? Sometimes we even want to punish ourselves to feel that we're forgiven ?

Hi conrada, I can understand what you are saying. I have done things in the past that I have had a hard time forgiving myself for. I have hurt God and I have hurt my mom because of anger about something that had happened to me. I asked for forgiveness both from God and from my mother. I was granted it. I still sometimes beat myself up for what I did and I need to remember that God has already forgiven me for it and it is forgotten. I try to tell myself, "If God can forgive me, why can't I?" We will sometimes fail. We need to remember that if we are truly sorry and ask God for forgiveness, He will happily grant it and then we do not need to think about it anymore other than not to do it again! lol! God loves us and we need to be very thankful that He is so willing to forgive. God bless you!

I don't know why, but I know I too am harder on myself than others. I also expect more from myself. We shouldn't do that, something I need deliverance from..lol

It's sometimes hard to forgive ourselves, because we know what we did wasn't right and it was our conscience speaking out. It was constantly reminding us of our mistake. And we are nothing but our conscience itself. And when the conscience speaks, our ego tends to get hurt and starts getting weaker. And that's when it's your ego the conscience wants to kill, and that when we feel as like not forgiving ourselves. We often forgive others for their mistakes because we are not them. But when we commit the same mistakes, we know, our conscience knows that it shouldn't be repeated again. We do want to punish ourselves, yes, but we mustn't do anything drastic. But give ourselves a punishment like fasting for one day, to remember that we shouldn't commit this mistake again. I used to do that sometimes. Fasting is good for the body anyway.
