Things you should not do to avoid seeing spirit.

Must admit this was not an original idea of mine. Even though i'm no authority on this subject but this is interesting somehow if only because of the many stories i'd heard since young. So, how do i begin. Do spirits, ghost or whatever supernatural phenomenon, exist in this world? No matter, i'll just take most of everyone believe they do. On another note, i'm a big fan of the American series, 'Supernatural'. My mother had told me this story. When she was a kid, her mother (my grandmother, that is) and her would tap and collect rubber nectar in the forest plantation. One day, late in the evening, while walking back from work, both of them heard a shuffling noise from behind. She described them as like someone was trying to get past them in a hurry. So, my grandmother told her to keep aside so as to let the person pass. Then, as sudden as the sound of footsteps appeared, it ceased immediately. They saw that no one has passed them by. And in front of them, there were only the trees. They both turned their back and looked behind. There was no one in the whole forest but themselves. My grandmother even whispered to my mother that it must be one of those 'forest dwellers'. The funny thing was, my mother told me she did not felt afraid at all at the time. It could be that she was still very small then and not aware of these things. There are many more stories of what we should not do to prevent ourselves from coming into contact with these 'beings'. And living in a country which is rich in many cultures and traditions, i have often heard of many such stories. As a child, i'd heard that one should not tie a red string to a banana tree and bring the string into our home. The story goes that we would encounter a very beautiful woman with a sweet scent. Only problem is, that is not really a woman. Another one would be: when we're camping in the woods, we should not look up a tree. The reason: we do not know if anything would be looking down on us there. Also, we should not call another person by name because spirits in the woods (we believe they exist) would then know that person's name and could disguise its voice and call him to itself. Haha, sounds scary. What else? Hmm, there are some chinese folklore that says these things should not be perform at night or after midnight. Clipping our nails, looking at the mirror, and singing to ourself could all caused spirits to appear before us. Or we could see things that we're not suppose to see. Don't know if any of them is true because i'd never try them. Someone also mentioned that after taking a long holiday elsewhere, we should shuffle and just shake up our beds and pillows before settling in for the night. Nothing particular. Just to make sure that whoever (or rather whatever) that may have been sleeping on our bed while we're gone knows that we're back and should leave now! Another person said that we should not put any kind of meat in the car while we're driving home at night as that may attract 'meat-loving' spirit into our car. That's the first time i'd heard of that. And i'd never heard of 'vegetarian' spirit so far. Woh, i'm getting creep out from writing all this as i'm all alone in the office right now. I must go now. Wait. I thought i saw something moved outside the windows. I think it's the trees waving goodbye at me. So, care to share your stories on what to avoid doing in order to avoid, err, meeting up with spirit?

Hi joshua! Oh, that is the first time I have heard about bringing meat with us inside the car for it might attract meat loving spirits. haha.. When I was very young, my grandmother usually tells us that we should avoid sweeping our yard in the evenings because we might see a coffin floating in the evening sky. I don't know if that is true because I have never heard anyone who had confirm such story. I guess, sometimes our magination get the best of us. haha.. However, I do believe in the paranormal. Take care and have a nice day.

Hi Faith. I have to tell you that i laugh when i read your reply. Floating coffin in the evening sky. Hahaha. It's kind of surreal and beautiful, don't you think? Haha. You know, i'm a little sceptic when it comes to the paranormal. Maybe it's because i took science stream in school. But still, there are far too many stories i'd heard from my real life friends and family to ignore them. So, now i tend to keep an open mind about them. You take care too, ya. Ayou, hmm, i hope no bad spirit would want to sleep or cuddle with me, haha. You have a good day too.

Wow..thats pretty scary actually. Thats why i never liked horror movies anything to do with spirits and all that. Im a chicken and i scream in the middle of my sleep and i cannot sleep if my hubby turns out the light.Because im paranoid like i feel someone is staring at me while im sleeping. And im really scared.

Hey Ayou. My wife is also very afraid of all these 'supernatural' elements. She scared easily too. But sleeping with the lights on? That's definitely a no-no with both of us. I can't sleep even if the small bedside lamp is on. I had to have total darkness to fall asleep. I hope you don't become too paranoid ya. You have a good day, okay.

Spirits are true because my grandfather had encountered them. When he was still young, he went home past midnight and was walking alone passing by many trees. In the middle of the road, there was light and he was happy because someone can share light while they will walk home. But as he came near, he saw lighted candles surrounding a coffin. He has no choice: if he will go back, it was kilometers away, but if he will continue, his house was just meters away. What he did was just pray the Lord's Prayer continuously and passed by at the side of the path without touching the lighted candles and kept on walking without turning his head but just pray until his house was at view then he ran as fast as he could. His lesson was not to go home late in the evening, that's why in barrios the folks sleep early in the evening to avoid experiences with spirits.

That is certainly a scary experience. I guess we should never go home late or if we did, we better had another person to accompany us. Thanks for sharing your story.

These are really new to me. But I have fun reading it, esp the beautiful woman with a sweet scent and the vegetarian spirit part. I just believe that whether its true or not, we have to respect what is around us.
