being a boss? or being a friend?

what's more important to you guys - being a boss or being a friend? i have a friend who was recently promoted to lead her team. they used to be teamates but now she was promoted to be their leader. now things started to become rocky because her subordinates would not really treat her as their boss and would often feel bad if she declines their proposals because my friend always puts her work on top of everything else. now her teamates who used to be her really close friends have put a barrier and have shut her out so that they're not really as close anymore. my friend usually cries everyday because the situation and the dilemma she's in really upsets her. has anyone of you been in that situation before? how did you deal with it?

thanks for your insight. i guess your team is lucky that you are both their captain and their friend. my friend is having a hard time dealing with her teamates because i think they treat her with less respect. it's not that she is dogmatic or anything like that. she is actually far from it. but i guess there's just a problem with their communication and i think that it's important for them to get over their differences so they would be able to work harmoniously with each other.
