I am so ecstatic! As many of you know, I am getting geared up for gastric bypass surgery. Weight loss has been a very big issue with me all of my life. I have tried pretty much everything under the sun to lose the weight, with either no luck, or ending up with the weight coming back at me full steam ahead. And now with my hip joints and lower back giving me nothing but grief for the last 4 years, it's even harder to lose the pounds because of the pain during exercising. Even walking is too painful at times. But I've been doing my best to follow the diet given by the nutritionist, and I've been adding a little more activity to my days...usually in the form of housecleaning in fits and spurts. And it's actually paying off for a change! The only thing that I don't like about it is that I'm currently in between sizes in my pants, where one size is too big and baggy, but the next size down won't quite zip up yet. Sweat pants are my best friends at the moment. So to all of you that are battling weight problems like I am, it takes the will power and perseverance, plus a LOT of prayer, and you will get through it, even if it's to get ready for surgery or otherwise. Thank you all for giving me such wonderful support and love through all of this. You don't know how much you are appreciated. Hugs to all!

I hope you have success hon. One thing that I have found to be very helpful is taking my multivitamin every day. That, and drinking lots of water. It really does help. Thanks so much hon.

Hi hon. Sorry it took me so long to reply to you. I decided to search around on the internet for an answer to your question, and I found a pretty awesome site that you can visit. It has some very good advice and gives some really good ideas of what to do and what to eat. Here's the link: http://nutrition.about.com/od/dietsformedicaldisorders/f/GainWeight.htm I hope it helps you hon. Thanks so much for responding.

Congratulations on the weight loss. That is very good news. I hope that your surgery goes well and that you will be just fine. Keep sticking to the diets and exercise when you can to keep the weight off. You will be in my thoughts as you get ready for the surgery and during the surgery and afterwards.

Best of luck to you. It sounds like you are doing wonderful losing weight. I need to take your advice and lose a litle more myself. I just started physical thepapy which was needed for my condition with multiple sclrosis. I have always gained and lost weight alot myself over the years. I also make myself excersise on the days I don't go to my physical therapy. I figure in the long run things will be better off for me.

Well that physical therapy should help you out. Maybe when you are doing your personal routine at home, you could put on some upbeat music to keep you motivated. It always helps me. Heck...it helps me on my housecleaning days too. LOL! Thanks so much hon.

I had the weight loss surgery 4 years ago. What a difference it made in my life. Losing the weight not only looked good, but I felt good about myself. Depression caused by obesity is not fun. Congradulations on the weight loss. That is a major amount for the time period. WoW!

Congratulations Kat, that's absolutely fantastic! I think if you wait another week, the smaller size pants are going to be baggy on you too. You're doing great .... slow and steady wins the race.

I will be jumping for joy when they do get baggy on me! Oh lordy....imagine how exhausted I will be from all of that jumping after I begin losing weight from the surgery and my clothes sizes change every few days! LOL! Thanks hon.

Nice work Kat! You can also boost your efforts a bit by having a lighter diet but also taking a multi vitamin supplement. Particularly vitamins A, D, E and K are fat soluble and will use up existing fat stores if things are done right (i.e. having a low fat diet and/or getting a generous amount of fat soluble vitamins) Calcium is also good for nutrition and some weight loss.

Ha ha! Beat ya to it! I started taking my multivitamin again right after my initial consultation, and it really is helping. Of course, it also helps that it has ginseng in it which kicks my energy way up. I haven't started taking calcium yet, but I plan to get some the next time I go to the GNC. After my surgery, and for the rest of my life, I will be taking multivitamins, calcium, vitamin B12, and possibly iron. Woooohooooo! Skinny body and long nails, here I come! LOL!

Hey, that's a good lose. Well done...don't worry about the sweat pants, I live in them year round. I actually gained 3 kg the other day and my trackpants were uncomfortable. I could feel thye extra weight around my middle. It's gone again. My clothes are loose again. How weird is that. It was pretty scary I can tell you. I hate being the weight I am and I don't want to get any heavier.

My word, six pounds in 2 1/2 weeks. I wish I knew what you are eating and how much of it. I would love to be able to do that. The older you get the harder it gets. That's no excuse but it is true. Keep up the good work, I'm truly happy for you. I have been heavy all my life so I do know I also understand. I am very happy for you!!!

It's called lots of fat free yogurt, fruit, and if the urge hits for sweets, giving in at the moment and only eating a tiny bit so I don't binge like crazy later. And it's actually working! LOL!

I'm so happy for you. I pray that all goes well, and I know that you'll feel so much better afterwards, and have so much more energy. I need to lose a few pounds too, and I have so much trouble trying to. I drink so much pop and iced tea, and it's hard to give it up. I just can't seem to make myself love water. lol

I know how that is. I haven't been too fond of water myself. But if I put Crystal Light in it or sugar free Kool Aid, it really helps. Thanks hon.

That's Great!! You are SO on your way to a happier, healthier kat!! I lost a few... maybe not pounds but inches! Its all good... I actually have felt like working for the past few days, and my back feels a bit better! Every step you take encourages me... I hope we can be 'bratty' to each other for years and years! I'm looking forward to it, my friend!
