Vacations around the holidays

Do you tend to take more vacations around the holidays, or do you tend to make the holidays a time when you stay home with your family? Personally, around the holidays I myself don't do too much traveling. I think it might be in part that I am afraid to break down in the cold if I drive long distance, and secondly that around the holidays I don't usually have extra money that I can be spending on myself.
