Was it when you where a kid or when you were older? As a kid I hated it my mom would make my brother and I walk forever and all we ever got was the crayons rasins toothbrushes and toothpaste somehow the candy always ended up gone in her room. Now that I have kids of my own I love letting them make themselfs sick just that one night then after they take out what they don't like (usually the good candy bars) I put it all together and they share getting a piece or two a day and dad and I get the good stuff to put in our lunches or whatever. So I have to say I enjoy it more now that I am older. But my favorite was a couple years ago when I took the kids out one parent of a highschooler asked me what high school I went to she didn't reconize me from around here. Um mam I am the mother of these four but you are now my favorite person in the world! I was 27years old!

At least you got to celebrate Halloween. My dad adhered to the strict belief that Halloween was a pagan holiday and therefore should not be celebrated by good upstanding Christians. So my memories were of being left out. I think it's great that you let your kids have fun with it. As for the woman who said you looked young. I quite agree.

I grew up in a foursquare church and we always had harvest party's. So I was taught to know what part I was celebrating so to speak. But my mom was all about the candy she worked us my little brother and myself! I think maybe cause her mom was such a holy roller fire and brimstone you know. Or she just really had a sweet tooth and saw a way to get free candy. But she was the same way when we had fundraisers at school. Oh how I hated bringing home the fundraiser packets! My mom always wanted to make me the kid that brought home the bike. One year I did get the walkman. But as a kid I was shy and not one for getting out of my comfort zone at all. But now at 29 years old I stive to get out of my comfort zone it pushes me and I have learned so much that way that I may not have otherwise. Anyway I do teach my kids where halloween comes from and we do attend church so they know that some of it is just for fun we dont put a lot into why we are dressing up as what we are dressing up as but just have fun pretending to be something we may not have had or will have the chance to be other then pretending.
