he just keeps pooping

I have a 5 month old kitten that has a really bad habit. He keeps pooping on my floor, and I just put down a new carpet. He is litter box trained but he just insist on pooping on my floor. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to break him of this bad habit? Thank you.

Try putting a bowl of vinegar on the place where he poops, not so nice, but he will hate the smell and keep away.
Also, clean the litterbox on a daily basis, he's probably just picky.
Oh and just in case, keep the carpet stowed away for a little while longer

Thats sounds like a great idea. Never thought that cats didnt like the smell of vinegar.
