I am having a problem latley with what people let thier kids watch on TV and what is on TV for kids to watch. I have had people tell me that they do not want to shelter thier kids, and this is why they let thier 2, 5, 7, 8 year olds watch ANYTHING! well I beleive that there is an appropriate age for everything, and that it is called parenting, not sheltering. Kids at this age can not yet differenciate between what is real and what is fantasy. And why corrupt thier pure little minds before they need to be? Why be in such a rush to let them grow up? It is the parents responsibility to protect thier minds and help them grow in a certain direction, why give them the crap at home that you should be worried about them getting everywhere else. Believe me, they will get enough of that in eventually, lets not put it on fast foward. What do you think?

I am the same way... I dont really watch tv and I reserve movies for when they are in bed. Our fav channel is Sprout and then Noggin. Don't watch much tv at night. My husband watches sports and sport channels when he gets home.

As it should be, people watch way too much TV. It's refreshing to hear of a family who doesn't make it a priority. :)

My son is only a year old and is already astounded by the television. We are always careful of what we watch with him in the room. If it's something innapropriate for him to see, then we either don't watch it then or we distract him with other activities. Kids now are desensitized to violence because of being allowed to watch so much of it on tv.

I love that you are like that. Too many people, even some responsible parents think that just because their kids are young, like a year old, means that they don't understand or they won't "get it", so it's fine, they are too little to know. When in reality, at that age they are a sponge and are taking it all in even though they don't look like it. Kudos to you for loving your child enough to care what goes in and out of his precious little eyes and ears, you ROCK!
