mylot as adviser?

I've read a lot of problems on relationship, family, love, money, children, parenthood, and many more on mylot. Some or most of these seek for advice. And no doubt these received recommendations, guidance, opinions or suggestions. Others may answer some problems really seriously. It is understandable that there are people who can't talk on their problems personally. They put it in writing as what they are doing here. I am just wondering if there are those who take or follow the advices being posted/answered here? Do you make mylot member as your alternative counselor or advisor?

Hi, I like to keep private matters private and I rarely discuss personal problems on the internet. I know many people who discuss very intimate details of their lives on the internet. Perhaps these people are very trusting people? I just don't know. Also, sometimes it is easier to discuss one's problems with complete strangers. All I know is that I try to be as private about personal issues as possible. Everyone is different. I respect everyone's ways of asking for advice.

I understand your point. I too don't discuss very personal problems here. I'm afraid some of my friends may discover them. lol.

I have found that I am careful about some of the things that I say because I have invited friends and family to be on myLot. I would hate to offend them by saying something that could have been left off the internet.

Yea, I think many people do that, hehe. This anonymity helps someone to vent better. It may be harder to tell the same problems to another someone.

I have posted an issue regarding parenting on here. I think it was because this is a large forum in which to hear different opinions. Sometimes it just feels good to know that people are listening to you and have something to say about the situation you are in. I don't think I would post anything extremely personal on a forum such as this, but I think it does help people to get new perspectives.

I found the topic you've posted on parenting not 'too' personal. It's fact it's a very good post to discuss. Keep up!

Thank you. That was one of those discussions that I really wasn't sure I should be posting. However, I needed a bunch of different perspectives on it to make sure I was coming to a good conclusion.
