My speakers don't work

August 13, 2006 1:35pm CST
My computer totally crashed a few months ago, and wiped everything off my computer. It was about a month ago when I discovered that my speakers weren't working. I tried to play DVD's and Cd's and MP3's, and this was when the problem was uncovered.I have plugged everything back in, messed about with the disks that came with the computer, hoping to find a solution. I even tried to troubleshoot the problem, but it came to no avail. The green light is on. On some programs, it says that everything is working fine, but on others, it says that no device is connected. I've had my computer for about four years, and the speakers have worked fine then, but they suddenly don't work. I've checked volume control and everything. What should i do?

I would make sure the drivers on our computer are the same one that should be on the recover disk you should have with your computer. I myself have run into this problem..If that does not help uninstall the hardware that uses the speakers and reinstall them...

I agree with that.

If the speakers work else where ethen consider it a driver problem, when I've done a clean install on my laptop I had a similiar issue I got the drivers/recovery disc and installed the relevant drivers.

Take these speakers to your friends computer and try whether it is working. If it is working, you have to correct it in the programme.

I think you need to bring them to somebody who will fix them. It really is the only shot to get the speakers to work again. I suppose u could send them back to the makers and they will replace them but there will be a fee for that sort of thoing

First and foremost, get your computer fixed. a) Reinstall the operating system and your application softwares. b) Get your drivers updated. c) Plug in your speakers and test for volume. d) If speakers don't work, try another new pair of speakers. Since your computer is 4 years old, it is quite an "old" machine in term of computer age. Get a new computer and save your hassle and pain of re-installation.
