Among the famous ones I admire people like Abraham lincoln, Mother Teresa, Leonardo, Churchill, Michelangelo, etc. Among the living ones, I suppose I admire film makers like Eastwood or Coppola, musicians like Satriani or BB king, etc. Is there any famous person, alive and or dead, that you really admire? why?

I admire Abraham Lincoln for his dedication and determination. One of the best quote from him is, "If you have 8 hours to cut down a tree, spend 6 sharpening your ax." His failures didn't made him stop but he persevered no matter what.

Hello LightninStrike, This is a great topic. One can learn a great deal from those he or she admires. Interestingly enough, your list is quite similar to mine. However, I would place Jesus of Nazareth at the top. How cool would it be to meet the one individual that is most responsible for mankind's greatest shift in consciousness? Off the top of my head, I would also consider it a great honor to visit with: Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Nostradamus, Ayn Rand, Alexander the Great, Merlin, William Shakespear, Marie Curie, Teddy Roosevelt, and Lao Tzu. On the living side I would begin with Margaret Thatcher, and would include: Stephen Hawking, the Burmese democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi, Norma McCorvey, Clarence Thomas, Karen Thorndike (the First American Woman to sail around the world-solo), Nicholas Sarkozy and Louise Hay.

I admire Oprah Winfrey because she uses her celebrity status to help others. She's one of those people who considers being a celebrity as a calling to serve. Being a celebrity empowers one to do greater good and she uses it to its full extent especially for those children in Africa. I also admire, Pope John Paul II because he is a reformist and worked for peace. He is the main role player to end the cold war. I also admire Mother Teresa because of the purity & generosity of her spirit. If I could get just get one step closer to being like her, then I am a would be truly blessed.

Hi LightninStrike! I do admire Mother Teresa the most. She is a one of the great example of love and sacrifice, bravery and courage. She unselfishely has given so much for the poor, she love with her whole heart, her whole soul and her whole mind. All those poor people whom she served and loved unconditionally are the most fortuante and blessed for haing the chance to feel her love and compassion. Take care and have a nice day. :)

How you said there are many we can admire and they did something for other people to help them and chnage the world. But I would like to mention one person who I admire and it is Bono from U2, who is doing so much for kids in Africa. I also like how he talk to people on his concert about helping those kids too, because a little help an help too. I really admire him for all this charity he make.
