Do You Let Your Friends Drive Drunk?

When you go out and party do you have a designated driver who doesn't drink? Have you ever had to forceably take the keys away from someone to keep them from driving drunk? Or do you let them drive and just hope they don't get pulled over or have an accident?
One time my husband had been drinking a lot. We had our kids with us and he was determined to drive home. I had a big fight with him and his sisters got mad at me and said that I should just let him drive. There was no way I was going to let him drive with our kids in the car. I made a scene but I won. Yeah I got called names and heard a lot of snide comments from his family, but I'm glad I stuck to my guns. I might have lost my family that night, or my own life.

I don't let my friends drive drunk. I try not to get drunk too, when I know I'll be driving. If we get a little tipsy, we usually stop to have coffee first and get a bit sober before heading home. But if we get really drunk, we usually just spend the night over at someone's place and go home in the morning.
It was good that you fought with your husband about this, because it would have been really risky to drive drunk with your kids in the car.
