It amazes me to read the statistics that show over 49 million Americans do not have health insurance and even worse 70% do not have dental insurance. Many companies are dropping their insurance or passing a higher amount of the monthly premium to the employees and making it unaffordable for them. I have no idea how someone making $16/hr or less with a family can even afford insurance premiums. HMO's are failing fast and an indicator of this is the average increase in insurance premiums is around 40% while they are consistently reducing the services covered. They are simply scrambling to save themselves. How many people do you know that do not have health or dental insurance? I personally know 5 families between my side and my wifes side of our immediate family that did not have any coverage at all. We have opted to use a discount program because it was the only affordable option for us to get some help. I was actually amazed to find that it ddoes work. My recent dental visit for my annual check up would have been $65 but I only had to pay $14. Needless to say I was very happy to see that. We also saved 50% on our daughters braces and my wife saves 60% for exams and contacts at the eye doctor she has been going to for over 15 years now. We now only pay $480 for the entire year (39 bucks a month) to cover our entire household which includes my mother in law as she lives with us. In our first 2 months we saved well over our entire annual cost for the plan and it has been a god send considering I used to pay over $7000 a year for just my company provided health insurance. Now we get savings on medical, dental, vision, prescription & chiropractic all on ONE program. If you know someone that needs some help I put the information in my profile with a link to the companies site. It is sad that in our great country so many people do not have access to affordable healthcare. Our government has been talking about it for years but my gut feeling is nothing will ever get done because the drug companies and lobbyist have way to much money invested in our politicians to ever allow it.

wow thats cheap! I have insurance thru my work, i pay $100/month for it. I only make about $20,000 but thats still too much for any government help. It sucks being caught in the low end of whats considered enough to live on. My boyfriend has no health insurance. Its depressing, we definatly are in the "forgotten" class. Not poor enough to get help but not rich enough to live comfortably.

oh and it bugs me and my bf too...if we were a gay couple he could be covered on my insurance but since we're not gay, he gets no coverage. And i guess insurance companies think everyone just gets married to have their "wonderful" (rolling eyes) coverage. Yea the health care system is seriously messed up, its really sad and they better do something soon. I mean if you are rich you get good health care but if you are not, you suffer until you just die.

the middle class is the forgotten class in this country. Have your bf check out this company. It can atleast provide some help if you need it. I mean I can't beat 14 bucks to get my dentist check up plus i am diabetic and my insulin is VERY expensive. I could not afford it without help. We are in the same situation as we make ok money but paying for family coverage health insurance would break us.
