Do Clearance Sales Make You Spend More?

It's ironic how when there is a sale you are supposed to save money, but I end up spending even more! I will end up seeing something that I normally would not buy, but the giant red tag that says "xx% discount" never fails to grab my attention. Then I buy it and later realize I didn't even really need it. How about you people? Does this happen to you too?

yes the word sale or discount makes me spend more than usual i normally end up buying all unnecessary stuff only because it is cheap and regret it later on.

Nuts! I do the same thing! I end up spending more money then I plan to when I see a clearance sale. It is nothing for me to go into a store planning to spend like $20 and walking out spending $60 because of clearance sales. But at least I got a good deal on it and can use it.

Just last week a cloth shop nearby, put 40% discount as he had to shift his shop else where. I only saw the board and told my daughter. She immediately went to that shop and picked up all necessary and unnecessary stuff and I had to shell down. Had I kept quiet, may be unnecessary stuff would not have entered my house. I was a spectator and could not say anything as I only brought her for the sale. I am also like that only. Pick up rubbish as it is cheap and then repent later.

Hi Sungolian, I could not be more on the amount of spending in this case, as my family account really under my husband monitoring and control as he used a real proper account system. And he gave me taught about what it is all about; cashflow, profit & loss and the balance sheet. By the way we enjoy cheap sales, stock clearance sales, discount sales, et cetera. Not less for this kind of shopping activity. HAPPY DAPPY.
