Do you think it's wrong to correct people of the cloth

If you saw someone like a minister, a rabbi or other religious figure doing wrong ..would you point out there error? Or would you cower under submission and allow the wrong to keep on because no one is suppose to question religous authority? I am sure this may not sit right with some but I think that if someone is doing wrong..whether are just a simply lay person or a person of the ministry..they should be told. What do you think?

...They are human first, clergy second. I'd tell them, descreetly. Our pastor is very human and will be the first to tell you his faults. It helps to see my own. ...There are some who think they are holier-than-thou. That is their first sin. Pride. ...We all fall short on encouragement. It is far too easy to critize, put down and condemn than it is to sneak up behind someone and find out what they are doing right, then tell them! It is my assignment from my bible study group. To give encouragement. Stiffle the complains. ...Peace be with you. =(^;^)= Della

There are some also who think that being holy is merely about hugging and kissing and feeling all wonderful..there is more too holiness then some social dance and hugging party. When someone says it's wrong to pray in the house of God and if you fold your hands why praying you are being showy well I say .."whose house is this GOd's or yours"!!!

It is not polite to remind others about their mistaken in cloth if you are not so familiar with them.

I can see that as being a real reason to vacate. Sometimes a person sees that they should go away to a better place or to seek a place more in keeping with their soul but fear leaving familiar surroundings..even if they are not the most pleasant.

I think my first task is to find out the matter according to my faith - perhaps I am the one who is wrong. I would back up my position with quotes, encyclicals, historical accounts etc.... then before I go accusing, I would need to access what exactly is being said and why...perhaps I am misunderstanding him? I would probably not go about it as correcting the person but rather open up dialogue and have him explain to me how such a position works because I thought such and such were the teaching.... this way I can bring his error to his mind without actually attacking and potentially stirring up pride and consternation.

I'm with you I would say something. They are people just like you and I and to me it does not make a difference if they are of cloth. They may welcome the words because to make mistakes is to be human. Also if told about what they had done wrong it would give them a chance to look at themselves in a different light. I look at it this way, if one person has seen a mistake I'm sure others have, not everyone is brave enough to say something but someone has to. bb:)s

I would correct them.....Mind you I am the type of person who thinks we SHOULD question everything, even authority...I think that NOT saying something is foolish really I mean not only are you demeaning your own worth (if you believe you shouldnt speak up due to the whole authority thing) but you are also allowing said person to behave/do etc something wrong that if it were anyone else you'd not allow ya know.....

Hi littlefranciscan! I think I will point it out to him the error in a very polite manner and if I can't do that then, I will be probably asking someone who is older than me to tell him of the mistake. It is very difficult especially depending on what kind of error was committed. Take care and have a nice day. :)

You are right. Jesus went into the Temple with a whip and started cleaning house. He certainly didn't cower, and, I don't think, he was too concerned with anyone's authority there, even though He knew that we are commanded to submit to the authorities in our lives, as quoted by Him. I live in Alaska and on today's news there was a story about a church settling at, something like, 15 MILLION DOLLARS for pastors molesting Native children several years ago. It all could have been stopped and many people's lives could have been changed if someone would have stood up to them.
