Another hint with Tea, apparantly a lot of products that you buy to kill dust mites are made from tea, if you put steeped tea in a spray container and spray lightly over mattress and around, this hinr was given out by the natural remedy advisor on TV this morning, how amazing is tea, the things she was saying were absolutely unbelievable...has anyone tried this and most of all does it work.

I was told that using boric acid or baking soda works too. There are a lot of natural herbs you can use for the same purpose. I am not sure if that works or not myself but my friend used and said it does. She is the same friend who use all these stuff on her hair as I mention in your other discussion. She tried using the boric acid and also tea as well. Some people mention moth balls to her and she said that was a no no. Bad for your health. Not sure if that is true have you heard about that?

about mothballs, you can place them in places in the house where you find cockroaches or bugs of any kind. you will get rid of them like that. if you have pets though, wrap the mothballs with cotton thick enough to avoid your pets swallow them but not too thick to let the bugs or cockroaches smell the mothballs

I've never heard of this either...Wow tea seems to have many benefits..... I use Eucalyptus mixed with water and spray around the house and beds to kill dust mites etc... leaves a pleasant clean smell about too.... Not sure if I would like to use tea though, it may stain(considering it may be also used for colouring hair)....

yes thats a good point, considering the many things this lady was talking about tea can be used for so many things and she said most dust mite products in the shops are made from tea anyway, I like the idea of eucalyptus I love that smell....

Hi..back again. I find the tea postings interesting and informative...and I thank you. Both my hubs and I are avid tea drinkers. He likes the black teas whereas I prefer green, jasmine, Oolong and another Chinese tea called Bojemi. I would be curious to know whether the woman was talking about regular black tea...or whether any kind of tea works? The idea of using tea for dust mites is something I will absolutely try. We have 5 cats that do not sleep with us...but do come to visit in the morning and they sleep on our bed during the day...anything we can do to keep our home healthy appeals to me...especially when it is a natural remedy! yeh I guess we could all save a little by using things we already have around the house instead of buying expensive things that probably use the same things in their products...

Thanks...that is great news! I watched Oprah a few months back and they were showing dust mites in the mattress...gross! It gives me the willies just thinking about it. I love home remedies and it is great to know something as safe as this will work! I am not sure how one would know though since it isn't like they have seen dust mites....

I've never heard of this myself. My partner said she heard about this on a tv show. I'd think that at least the tea would make things smell good. And, if it does work, at least you're getting a nice, cheap air freshener and a really cheap way to get rid of dust mites.
