I have never participated in gymnastics, but I always wanted to, but my mom always said we could look into classes if I lost weight, but I was never able to, so I didn't get to do it. It's not like I wanted to do competitive or anything, just local classes, and I always thought that being in an active sport that I enjoyed I would obviously in turn get fit and stuff. I was always very flexible as a kid, so it probably would have been something I could have learned gradually. Instead, my mom listen to other people who said I should play "little league" softball. I hated it, played it for a little while and quit. Basically I have always said that if I ever have a daughter I definitely want to get her into gymnastics fairly young, just because it looks like so much fun, and obviously it's great exercise! I definitely wouldn't push it on anyone just to live vicariously, because I hate when I see that, but I would definitely want my future daughter to have the opportunities I never had. And I'm not exactly "old", so I still feel like I would like to take a gymnastics class in the future when I'm in good enough shape to handle it. But I can never find any classes that offer adult gymnastics! I really think they should have that. hehe But anyway, I still LOVE gymnastics, I love watching it on tv and I love any movie that has gymnastics in it!

I can't imagine what life would ahve been like without gymnastics. I grew up with it the love of my life. I wish so much that lots of adults did it now. I guess it is harder to get into for us, since we are so much tighter in both body and schedule. But maybe more because it can be embarrassing to see all these little kids who are much more advanced than you, since it is easier for smaller bodies to do it. But I did it all through childhood. Too bad you didn't continue doing it after you moved. But hey, still you cna try to start doing it again at a local gym. It does keep you so disciplined, and keeps you away from doing bad things teenage years. It kept me very obedient and hard working. It's a sport that takes such dedication, motivation, and control. Happy to find another gymnastics lover. ;o)

I wasn't exactly a gymnast, only participated on my high school team in my senior year, but I was a ballet dancer prior to that. My life was dancing, at least from age 8 to 17. My parents weren't as strict, but my ballet instructor was. My last year I sprained my wrist, my ankle and was rear-ended while riding with my parents - all within one month. I took the summer off from training and returned to find that I was being demoted a level. I quit on the spot. I still miss it.
