I am a mother of 2 girls, 5th and 3rd grade. My oldest lately has been complaining a lot lately about her back or legs hurting and the more I read things it could be the start of the body changing. I have started to have a conversation with her about it but she is like yeah yeah yeah and goes on. I can't get her to listen to me. I don't just want it to happen when I am not around and have it lead to making a scene and her being made fun of. So if anyone has some advise for me, I sure would like to hear it.

Actually when it happened with me first time, i did not know about it. i was just 9 yr old then.i was so shocked to see bloods coming out. i rushed to my mom and then for the first time i knew. i think girls should me made prepared for it.ask your daughter politely that you want to talk something whoch will be very helpful to her. then tell her and see her a doc too for the pain.

I wouldn't worry that much, the chance is that she already knows a lot and she will come to you when she needs advice. The more you try to push advice on to her, the less she will listen ~ so try not to sound to eager otherwise she will feel more embarrassed around you and not be able to even say when she has a problem... When I was younger, I went and found out about it myself and only asked when i had questions... because for me it was too embarrassing with my mum, i asked my aunt~

She probably knows things are changing and is just very uncomfortable talking about it. Make her a "Girls Only" package. Include whatever personal supplies you want her to have along with any information she might need and a small purse (change purse size works well). Tuck a few items in the purse along with a note that she should carry it in her schoolbag "just in case" along with whatever other words of wisdom you want to share with her. This won't replace you actually talking to her but might open the door a little.
