How much stress can lead to burnout?

Burnout is the exhaustion of physical and emotional strength or motivation usually as a result of prolonged stress or frustration. But how much stress can a person tolerate before it can result to burnout?According to Wiki, burnout is construed as a result of spending too much effort at work and having very less recovery but some argues that it is a particular personality trait of workers. Other European countries that have included work stress and burnout in occupational health and safety standards and hold organizations responsible for preventing and treating burnout.
