How long should this take?

OK, last night I started "fixing" my son's ipod-touch. The first thing I had to do was create his own library, then transfer out all of the stuff that he purchased from my library (I have the regular ipod). Then I had to finish downloading a TV show he wanted. Well, it's the whole series of Heroes, 11 episodes or something like that. So far just downloading the shows has taken over 2 hours. And I'm only about half way done. Should this take this long? I mean, my computer is NOT that slow, I have FiOS, so the connection is darned fast. I only download songs for me, so it never takes very long. Should movies and TV shows take this long??? Oh, and I don't know if this might be my problem, but I have the libraries stored on a network drive, not my local hard drive.
