How do you keep yourself from being tempted to eat sweets, when you're dieting?

When I'm on a diet, sweets and cake are my inevitable down fall. I don't like pie that much, but cake has my name written all over it. Maybe it's because cake has lots of carbs and I crave carbs constantly. Maybe I like cake so much because I'm on a perpetual diet and that means fewer calories. Cake is just easy food, I guess. Either way, cake has spelled the end to more than one diet for me. Does anyone have cuggestion on how to beat a craving for carbs? Are there any ideas that really work? Would appreciate suggestions.

When i am dieting I don't tell my self I cant have a sweet on occasion. I reward myself with a small treat nothing big but then this way I don't gorge out on sweets whenever I get a chance too.

My trick is not to cut them out completely. If I try to absolutely eat nothing bad then I only want it even more, and I always end up failing. But if I let myself have the treats they are less tempting and it is easier for me to say no. The key is moderation.

The only way I can stop is to make sure I don't go down the sweets aisle of the supermarket, I don't even buy much for visitors anymore unless the tell me they are coming because I end up eating everything...

Of course eveyone like cakes. What you can do, do not bake cake of anykind or dont buy cake for your familys food. If you have cake at home just cover it with your big cover and thats it, you wont see that cake. Or when you bake your cake just put icing that wont make you crave for it.
