why is 3 an unlucky number?

been long hearing that 3 is an unlucky number...is it something absurd or real?

No I think this is some thing very strange . I have looked at 3 as an unlucky number . 3 has kind of had no impact on me .

4 is the unlucky number in China, where residential buildings sometimes do not have fourth floor, fourth flat and block 4. 3 pronouns similar to "give birth to" / "generate", it's considered to be a quite lucky number. Which country is the place where people put 3 as the unlucky number and why is that? @o@?

oh i know that 4 is an unlucky number according to feng-shui...its in india people say 3 is an unlucky number dont do anything that count to 3 or is associated with 3...

It is absurd only. No number is unlucky for that matter. Every number barring one and two has another number in it and every number has one in it. There fore number one is common in every number and every number should be a lucky number.

I have heard that 6 is a devil number, but three... no. Actually in the book The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri the number 3 is presented as holy number. It represents God, so I don't think it is unlucky number.
