It is driving me crazy. Everytime I turn around he has a cold that turns into Pneumonia. Every doctor is blaming it on his ashma and sinuisis. He is 7 years old. Does anyone go through the same thing I do careing for a child with ashma. I am really looking for some closure here. If you have experienced this before please let me know so that I can have someone to talk to. I would really love to exchange email address so that I can see what other people is going through and things that you might know that I dont. Michele

My son has asthma and he is only 18 months old. He has asthma since he has been 1 year old. I have to give him his inhaler when he gets up in the morning, before he goes to bed at night and throughout the daystime depending on how bad his asthma is on the day. Whenever i take my son to the doctors about him having a bad cold and a cough he cannot get rid of, the doctors won't give him anything else, they just say give him his inhaler more often. Its ok giving it him more often, but it won't get rid of his cold and cough long term. My son also has hayfever, so in summer its alot of medicine to remember to give him and keep an eye on him. Whenever we took him to a health visitor this summer, they just refused to give me something for his hayfever because they said it wasn't that. Now i have had it confirmed by the doctors he seems to be coping better than before. ~ Joeys wife

My nephew has asthma. And my daughter has asthma like symptoms. Both use a nebulizer and abuterol. My nephew also has an inhaler and takes daily Singulair. Neither though have gotten Pneumonia. My brother got pneumonia alot as a child, and doesn't have asthma. To my understanding Pneumonia is usually casued by a bacteria or virus, usually a virus in children. Asthma where the airway constricts, and then becomes inflamed. Now Pneumonia can aggravate asthma, but nothing I've read states it as a cause. If I were you,I'd get another opinion.A good place to go for information is www.healthtalk.com. Alot of good articles there. Good luck.
