Why do they make it so easy to get a drivers license?

I took a friend to get her drivers license this morning and another guy who was also getting his was a terrible driver. I sat back and watched as the lady instructor told him to make a left at the stop sign and he made a left so that wasn't a problem. He made a left going down the wrong way.
She got so upset with him and made him switch sides with her and she drove back to the parking lot.
It was crazy because before this happened I was inside the DPS office with my friend so that she could sign up and the
same guy couldn't read line 5 on the eye test.
Answer me this....if he couldn't read line 5 on the eye test why did they give him a permit to get a license?

Well this sure does explain the increasing number of accidents in the country. It is true, it is no more a safe place to drive. You may follow all the rules, be a good sensible driver and take utmost precaution but you never know when you will be hit by some stupid, irresponsible, incapable driver, who shouldn't have been given the license to drive in the first place. I have lost a friend on account of one such incident and since than i really get upset when i hear about things like these.

You are so right Serenidity. I am sorry to hear of your loss. Now when we get behind of the wheel, we have to look out for ourselves as well as for the other drivers on the road.

That makes no sense, but as you know, there are a lot of terrible drivers out on the roads today. I think sometimes the people giving the drivers tests just want to get rid of the people and say that they passed the test when they know they didn't.
It's not right and it makes the highways even less safe for those of us who actually know how to drive.
