Bush wants more money?

President Bush called for Congress to approve billions of dollars in additional funding for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. He states that the Army will have to shut down bases and start removing 100,000-200,000 civilian workers if a new bill is not proposed and passed by Feb 2008. Defense Secretary Robert Gates has reportedly ordered the Army and Marines to get ready for cutbacks, including terminating contracts, reducing civilian workers, and reduced operations at bases. Congress, however, is pushing for the $50 billion bill that President Bush had vetoed - it called for a timely withdrawal of our troops.
