funerals and missing loved one's...

Yesterday I attended my grandmothers funeral, it's brought back a lot memories from the year before when my grandfather passed away. (her husband) It's pretty strange how these things make you wish you had more time. I didn't really see them that often, as they live quite far away and the only times i visited was with my parents during special times. It's made me wish I could spend more time getting to know my fathers side of the family, as I really don't know to much about them apart from various stories I've told over the years. The day wasn't as bad as I was expecting, hard but in away it was nice to see my other side of the family. (just a shame really behind the reason).... I'm glad jake was able to spend some time with her =) How often do you wish you spent more time with loved ones?

sorry about your loss joey and yes, i wish i could have spent more time with my grandparents. they were both raised in england and both fought for england during ww1 (they moved to canada in 1921) it would be interesting to hear their stories now, when i can appreciate them!

My grandparents met during the world war too, my grandmother was a nurse and served time helping those who had been injured doing bomb assults. They met during a dance where my grandfather lived and they was together for over 50 years =) I know I feel the same way.. I used to be interested but grew bored of hearing them and now I wished I listened.... ~Joey

Family is everything. Time spent with loved ones is precious. Its too bad we don't know how precious it is until they are gone. We need to cherish our time spent with our family we never know when it could be snatched away from us. I like living close to my family, I grew up that way. My Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Grandmother all lived within walking distance. Now everyone is scattered. My 2 sisters live far away. The one sister I see maybe once or twice a year, the other one its years in between seeing her. I don't like that. Joey you have a nice little family hang on to them and let nothing come between you.

Losing a loved one is always tough not only emotionally but it can wear you down physically as well. Luckily for me when I've lost loved ones, my faith ultimately gets me through. I wish you luck.

Sorry to hear that, Joey. Remember the good times you have spent with her and treasure them. I still dream of my grandparents every now and then too.

I'm sorry for your loss man. Really I am. Its hard to talk in cases like this. I hope you are okay. I have a discussion similar to this Joey, its fairly recent. Hopefully you'll check it out. In my case I wished for time with my maternal grandparents and a lost sweetheart. Usually loss, sadness or loneliness will bring this out, but other times I think of them when I'm alright.

Dear joey_matthews, You can disconnect many things in life but not relationship. I feel that you should have spent lot of time with your grandfather and grandmother. YOu would have learned many things from them very useful knowledge from them. They would loved to tell many things. Maintaining relationship with our relatives one of the main things in life. It gives a moral strength to both body and soul. On various reasons, we brothers were not maintaining good relationship for the last so many years but God Grace we now have a good relationship which not only brings happiness to our family and also I feel morally supported by my brothers.
