You may recall awhile back about the discussion I had about my niece hitting her boyfriend after drinking. They drank at dinner. He rode his motorcycle & she the car. The bike stalled out on a dark highway. SLAM! He was airlifted from Duluth to Minneapolis. Lotta damage. But....He was hospitalized and had a plate set into his pelvis area for repairs. Well news is Jason should be getting home fairly soon. The therapy is going all right and he is up and about with a cane and walking a little bit. He has made great progress so far. This was about a month ago and he has been in the hodspital since. No news on hwer court appearance yet. She has been to the preliminary hearing is all. Still other charges besides DWI are pending further investigation.This is a photo of ToTo & Jason in my wife's restaraunt. Just wanted to relay the good news is all.

It sounds as if you are getting more medical experience, second hand, than you could ever want or imagine. It is sad that families do not learn, but perpetuate the ills of drinking. Sad probably is not even near strong enough a word.

It's good news that he's up and about plus the fact he could be discharged fairly soon. I'm no lover of hospitals and I bet he'll be glad to get home and away from that place.

I'm glad to hear that Jason is walking again. He was in the hospital a long time. I hope they both wake up and change their lives after this happened.

Well we do know that Jason has not drank since the accident. Now as
far as ToTo my feeling is that she has more than likely gotten drunk since then. It's a problem that runs in the family unfortunately.

Thats great news! I hope he is home by the holidays. It would stink that he is staying in the hospital during that time. From the picture he looks like a pretty big and strong guy so that may help him being able to heal faster. Still, it's good news that he's up and walking a bit with a cane. I know how awful it is to have a hip injury. It has taken my husband months to get back to walking without a cane or assistance. He broke his hip when he got hit by a truck when he was walking down the road last year in October. So, he still limps sometimes and I can tell it bothers him. Those types of injuries take forever to heal! But it sounds like he is really making a go of it. Thanks for the update!

Oh he is big all right. But he's lost a lot of weight in the hospital too. That's what actually saved his life was being such a big man and all. No broken bones either, just the pelvis was crushed slightly. A plate was all that he needed. They were talking about a total pelvic replacement the day he arrived at the ER. Thanks.

Wow!!I cannot imigine going through something like that,especially if my boyfriend hit me:(Im gld everything is alright for him and that he will be home for the holidays.Its terrible to go through this.

They are both fighters also is the problem. There have been a
few domestic disturbance calls at their residence. That's why
more charges may be filed. I don't think she id it itnetionally
but there is evidence they had a very verbal argument at the bar/restaraunt that tnight prior to the accident. Who knows.
Glad it's them and not me is all I can say.

I wish him a speedy recovery. That just sounds horrible, I know its no fun to be hit and then be in an accident like that. Hope he gets better soon.

Yeah it kind of sucks to be him right now. He hopes to be back to building his custom bikes soon as well because he has a couple back orders to build. Don't think they'll be ready anytime soon though.

Great to hear Jason is doing better - to think how much worse things could have been. I'm sorry for your niece but drinking and driving is one of my pet peeves. I say if you want or need to do it - stay put or let someone else drive. Wishing both the best in their situations though.

After posting this I re-read it and sounded a bit judgmental - I'm not really and honestly do wish the best for your niece and Jason. I've just known too many people including a couple who were killed that involved drunk drivers and it hits a nerve with me.

I am glad that your niece's boyfriend will be going home soon. A month is a long time to be in a hospital. I bet he still has a long road ahead of him. I am sorry she has to through all of this. I hope this has taught her a lesson not to follow in her dads footsteps.
I am sending both all my positive energy because they will need it.
