I see this substance mentioned in diet pill commercials a lot. What is it? And what effect is it supposed to have on the body?

well in my research on this when i was looking for ways to eat better.. i found out that LIKE with lots of other *diet* herbal things people tend to abuse this thinking its a DIET aid when in fact its ONLY an appitite suppresant it was discovered by foot men/desert people who used it for when they traveled usually for days to find food -- it helped them to stave off hunger till they were able to eat! again people want a miracle diet and there is none!!! these days its silly to *starve* ourselves to be thin! :( not healthy at all! :( hope that helps :) XX

It is a cactus which grows in Mexico. It´s supposed to reduce food cravings or even suppress appetite. Hoodia pills are supposed to be natural and have no side effects. In Europe it´s on sale in some health shops, but there are a lot of warnings saying that the products sold there contain hardly any Hoodia or even none at all. I don´t know what it´s like in the States.
