Walking through my timber this morning I was greatly suprised. I heard we had mountain lions but till now never seen any signs. The deer was on the run because the tracks were 7-9 feet apart. The cat tracks 6-8 feet. As big as my feet. Must be a cat about 150-200 plds. Shocking.

Hey there Dbmax, Is that a 'fastback' in your avatar? Purrrrty! Anyway, I'm not sure where Clinton is. I'm in NM. Right after I purchased our land, I was out walking, and ran across what were surely a mountain lions tracks. Each paw was larger than my fully extended hand and outreaching fingers. Enormous!!! I was not aware that we had mountain lions where we live. Yet, after seeing those tracks, I started to ask around. No one seemed to have ever seen a big cat in our neck of the woods. A few months later, while driving home, all manner of vehicles were parked on the side of the frontage road, gaping and gawking at a big cat that had been killed while crossing the highway. Seeing a big cat in a zoo is one thing. Seeing one two feet away is quite another. What a magnificent creature. I was saddened to see such a beauty killed by traffic. Suffice it to say, not long after we completely fenced our property. I sure didn't want another big cat getting into any kind of mischief with my dogs.

69 Mustang fastback. Yep. I heard that alot of states have been trying to populate many animals. Some big cats and bears, lotsa birds. Here in missouri in parts were getting black snakes crossing with copperheads making a mean snake. Wild Chickens-Prairie chickens keep such snakes from breding so much. Delicate system.
