Discussions are an exhcange of thoughts from one person to the next...online it seems you need to ask a question to begin one, yet often times when you are with someone, they happen naturally just from talking about everyday objects...am i imagining this? any thoughts??

I think the reason is that we cannot look into each others eyes. When we are talking, we look into each others eyes and that seems to help with the conversation. That is impossible online.
