The Hippocratic Oath was broken!

I can't believe that there are actually doctors that can brake this oath. And yet I know a person who went to this doctor, had a serious health problem and out of sudden, everybody in his family found out about it in a few days. This was due to his doctor (which was a "Friend" he trusted) and he assumed that it was better if his family knew about it so as to support him! Unbelievable!! Why on earth do they make that oath in the first place?

I dont understand why they do. It is crazy how many doctors will speak about there patients. It doesnt only stop with Doctors through. There are nurses that do the same thing as well.

I agree ... no matter what he "thinks" woudl be better, the patient is the one who should decide whether he wants everyone else to know or not
I think the probleme there was that he considered himself more like a friend than a doctor - which is still not good excuse to break the oath... especialy if he had been specifically told not to say anything ...
