What's the strangest pet you have ever had??

I must admit that Im a strange person, I would rather live with a house full of pets than a partner. I have a Rottweiller x staffy that I rescued from a woman who was beating him with a metal pole. He was so slim and ragged that my vet wanted to have him destroyed. With a little bit of love, attention and a bucket full of time, my beautiful dog has turned from a nervous scavenger to an affectionate, protective very good friend. It just goes to show that time and love can work wonders with some things.. I also have 4 cats, 1 black boy, 2 multi-coloured girls and a ginger girl. They are very special to me as their mother was 'eaten' by my neighbours dogs when she fell into their garden. I dont blame my neighbours pets, but I was heartbroken for a while. My neighbour no longer lets her pets out without a muzzle on anymore, for which I am grateful.. I have lots of tropical fish. I love water and the fish tank helps calm me down when Im stressed.. I have 2 rats, mad things that they are, a boy and a girl. My girl is not as friendly as my boy, but Im working on her. She came from a home where her owners were a bit busy with their kids so didn't have much time for the rat.. I have 5 baby land snails. At the moment they are only about 3cm long but they are likely to grow to about 8cms long, maybe bigger.. I also have a 6ft Boa Constrictor. He was my husbands snake but when we seperated he had nowhere to keep him, so I kept him instead. Ive kinda grown to love him, but a lot of people say my home is a menagerie. They are also asking me how strange or outlandish I would go when it comes to pets.. Can anyone beat my strange menagerie or am I just a crazy old pet lady, destined to pick up strange or abused animals for the rest of my days???

I have no pets now. As a child I grew up with many different kinds of animals though. We had horses, a goat, a sheep (who thought she was a dog), dogs, barn cats, 2 geese, a few ducks, a cow, a couple of snakes, a rat, rabbits, fish (both saltwater and fresh), an iguana, a parrot (who talked non-stop), gerbil and a couple of ferrets. I think the strangest pet that we had, and we only kept her for a month or so was a baby raccoon. We gave her to the animal reserve because of both legal reasons and because we thought she would have the best chance of survival there. She was adorable and mischevious. We would feed her out of a tiny bottle and walk her around on a little leash. My uncle used to do lawn work for a company found her alone and brought her to my mom.

Wow, I have a cat and some fish. Guess you beat me in top trumps: wierd pets! I can only respect someone who can dedicate so much of their time to aninals. I, sadly don't have time to notice that we have them, and if it weren't for the kids I suspect that they would not be with us for long. As a side point there was a philosopher (whose name eludes me) that once said that that tou can define the civilisation based on how it cares for it's prisoners. I believe that this is also true of pets, and I suspect that you have increased our average quite a bit. Thanx
