Does this nosebleed trick work for anyone else?

When I was little I had nosebleeds so bad that they would gush like a faucet on full blast for hours at a time. I would have them for about 6 months every day each year. It was horrible. The slightest touch to the outside of my nose would cause it to bleed. If I went inside a warm house after being outside in the cold it would start bleeding and vise versa. Tipping my head back wouldnt work then my stomach would fill up with blood and I would vomit up this huge bloodclot. I finally figured out a way to get it to stop but most people would say that it would thin the blood and make it bleed worse so I wonder if it ever worked for anyone else or if anyone has tried it. I soak a washcloth (a dark colored one or it will stain) in water as hot as it can get from the faucet then I slightly ring it out but its still steaming. I place it on my nose and breath through my mouth. It hurts really bad when the washcloth is that hot and it makes my eyes water but within 2 minutes its stopped or slowed then I blow my nose and a blood clot comes out and my nosebleed is gone.

Ahh, my little brother had a similar problem, he used to get massive nosebleeds every day! However, he went to the doctors who were gonna do some laserthing to stop him getting the nosebleeds but he decided he didn't want it... and the nosebleeds stopped! Seems they scared him off them LOL! However, recently they started again, usually at night, and my mum tells me he gets blood all on the pillow =/

That's a really interesting method you've got there. I'm not sure if it's abnormal, but i think I'm immune to nose bleeds. Yes, I've gotten them some time when i was younger, but not to the extent where I would have blood clots. And this way of stopping a nose bleed seems a bit painful. Nevertheless, if this method proves successful and helpful for you, far be it from me to tell you what's right from wrong.

If it works, it works!!! I had nosebleeds all my life until I was about 22 years old. I remember my parents having to take me to the hospital to have my nostril cauterized ( burned to seal the vessel from bleeding)..it was a very unpleasant experience but it would work for a couple of weeks..then I would sneeze or the cold weather or hot weather would bring one on again...it happens rarely now...and I tip my head back and pinch my nostrils tightly...it usually stops in a few minutes...I also try not to take too much ibuprofen or aspirin as they both act as blood thinners...
