How would someone make easy money on ebay

I have tried to sell a few things on ebay and I had no success. I am not sure why, but could be because I have no rating yet and I can't stand the fact that I have to pay ebay when I do not the sell the item that I had listed. Is there anyway of getting around the fee and is there anything that sells well on ebay that I might be able to put on there to sell Any info would be great thanks
