As normal, today i went to the gym for my workout and i was getting abit bored with my same exercise routine so i decided to change the sequence today.. After finishing my 1st set of triceps exercise, i rest for about 10mins b4 embarking on my 2nd exercise, chest.. i tot it will be quite easy as i have done all the exercises b4.. But however as i was lying down on the bench lifting the dumbbells above my head, suddenly my hands went weak and cant support the weights!! One of the dumbbells hit my mouth and inside my mouth was bleeding and it was painfull!!! but luckily all the while i was still holding on to it and thus there wasn't a free fall effect on my mouth.. hehe.. After a while, when it wasn't so painful, i went to wash up and i saw my lips are swollen and i got a cut on my upper lips as well as my inner lower lips :( so i just applied salt on the wound to disinfect the wound and it helps a little though it's hurting.. hehe.. SO now i learnt that no matter how confident we are, never take things for granted as accidents can happen anytime ^_^

You are lucky you had no major wound.Accidents may happen anywhere, no matter if we are confident or careful or anything. Gym is just another place where accident is possible to happen so its important they got a doctor able to help anytime. Most of gyms here dont have any.

Paid gyms or public ones better...? I think both are crowded. Which you prefer?

BOth are equally crowded.. BUt in terms of better viewing, paid gyms are good because the standard of women there are higher.. lol =D Public gyms are more for sweet young things though.. hehe ^_^ For myself, i'm visiting private gym at my fren's condo.. hehe ^_^

hey , Iam sory to hear abt yr accident. Well i would like to give u a few tips here. 1) Well while working out give ample time to warm up. U shd give altleast 15 mins to warm up. The apin u were feeling are becoz of lack of proper warm up. I often get the idea of whether i can good weight today by the warm sessions. U will get to know abt it soon after yr warm ups. 2) Always after doing warm ups do the work outs which involves heavy weights. U wrote u did triceps first and chest later. For me its wrong. I would recommened u two do heavy workouts first and light ones later( chest exersixes involves heavier weights than triceps). 3) Always take deep breaths and drink sufficient water/ juices to keep your body relaxed and nice. 4) Lastly when lifting weights keep your mind and body towards exersixing. Dont talk or look around while working out. 5) Happy exersixing :-) Cheers, Tutul

hi there :) thank for the tips.. it's just that i'm quite bored with the same routine everytime and thus i thought of changing the sequence for once.. but unfortunately, accident happened to me.. So next time i will just stick to my normal routine and wun change because there's a reason to y trainers plan the exercises as such :) and i will warm up well too :) thanks for the tips :)

Hi, Well i would like to give few more tips here When u exersixe daily then ur bound to get bored at some point of time. I always prefer to carry my music cds with me. If yr favourite music is played then its it is very unlikely that u will get bored. I think another good point is keep all tensions and work aside while working out. I always prefer not to carry my cell phone with me. so that i can concentrate n my work out. Cheers, Tutul

Oh goodness, what a terrible experience. So now, it has been 9 months. ARE YOU STILL GOING TO GYM regularly? If you have stopped, that is to be expected, ha! Otherwise, you are really a gym rat! I don't usually push myself that hard. When I do bench presses, I know whether I can finish when I push up already... if I feel too weak to push up, then I won't be so gungho and push up till I over strain, and worse, cannot control when the weight comes down.

Sorry to hear, but since your getting bored with the current routine try this one out. Just for a few tips, make sure throughout the day you have drank enough water and eaten healthy and sufficiently throughout the day so you can make the most of your workout. Sleep is also important, make sure you do not want to overlook that. During your workouts, make sure you do NOT rush through them. That will probably cause you to injure yourself much more worse than you have experienced. I have seen that this workout routine has been quite effective, because it can work as a fat burner which also builds a stronger core. This is a workout you should do 3 times a week and have atleast 48 hours rest in between to ensure muscle recovery. It's a full body workout. You will do one exercise per muscle group for your chest, back, tricep, bicep, shoulder, abs, lower back, quads, calf, hamstring. The great thing about this workout is that you don't do the same exercises all 3 days. For example, say you do bench press for your chest on Monday. On your next workout (which would be Wednesday), you would do something else such as push-ups and on Friday you would do butterfly's or something. You can mix it up so it doesn't get boring like in your case. On your non-workout days, you could play some basketball, go for a swim, jogging, or what ever you would like. If you want more detail on what type of exercises to do, ill be glad to help you out. Hope i helped.=]

Sorry to hear about your accident. Hope you are feeling OK now. I am an accident prone person. I fell down quite easily =P I always fell down when I least expected it. =( It's true that never take things for granted no matter how confident you are. For example, England. Given the good players they have and the history they have, they thought that they will surely qualify for Euro 2008. In the end, due to their complacency and lousy teamwork, they are out of Euro 2008. Serve them right.

hi poohgal :) my lips are not so swollen anymore le but still bit painful when i eat things, hopefully in another 2-3 days time will heal completely :) hehe.. yup, u'r right, england is indeed too complacence.. they din think that all their previous years of qualification for major tournaments, all comes from last games and often needing help from other teams to beat or lose, so that they get to qualify at the expense of other teams =D Plus england always think that they can catch up so it's ok to lag during the initial stages.. aND THAT'S y they have never qualify for any major tournaments with games to spare =D

hi kun, really? a fitness gymn buff.. all i could say is how is your gym workout now still doing fine??aheh.. well, it so good it is only a dumbells.. have you not try yet to lift a barbell then have add a pounds every time you tried to lift it..though it is only a dumbells and it only hurt a little.. then, if it is a barbell that could be worse..lol.. especially if you lift it loose then it hit your feet....it could be a double agony..lol..

lol =D That was my only accident in the gym, and since then, everything is going smoothly for me.. haha =D Well, i have tried with barbells as well, but i would say, barbells is much more safer, because of the two weight plates at the side, making it some form of protection even if it falls on the floor.. hehe
