I'm telling you, if this is "the word of the year" for the people of this country, then the people of this country are in bad shape! Education down the drain!!! I have never heard this word before, and granted I am not a game player and not around the groups that do, but come on! Of all the words, this word is THE word? I'd laugh if I wasn't already crying! They say it is the perfect word between whimsy and technology... what's this world coming to! http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071211/ap_on_re_us/word_of_the_year Let's give them the help they need - what word would you choose to be The Word of 2007?

w00t! haha.. Interesting choice of 'word of the year'. It's not even a proper word. It's actually a combination of numbers and alphabets. I am no gamer too but I've heard of this 'word' before. It's more of an expression than word. I really wonder who are the people behind the decision of choosing this word as 'word of the year'. They must be all gamers LOL I am not an American so I do not know what's the latest lingo there to choose the 'word of the year'. Maybe you can share with me what's the most popular lingo now (other than w00t) =P

I can't help you there! I'm still trying to learn the texting lingo! All the abbriviations and partial spellings and substitutes for every word in the dictionary - except Woot - Why can't we just talk like normal people!

LOL Thank God you do not live in my nation. We have people of different races (Chinese, Malay, Indian and Eurasian). Our common language is English but all of us do speak a little of one another's language. Over the years, we have come out with many lingo of our own. =P Lingo makes the speech shorter and more fun =P But, of course, it's still important to know and speak proper English (especially in formal setting).

Not against other languages but this "language", just don't think it should be the best or in dictionaries - like Homer Simpsons "Doe" or however you spell it! That made it in dictionary last year!!! But I guess it takes allkinds to make the world go round!!!

I wondered about this one myself. I thought it was kind of odd to use a word that is half numbers, I mean how does that even make it a real word. I have no problem with some computer "slang" being considered real words but I thought this one was kind of pushing it.

Hmm...maybe numbers rank after letters? Like 'w00t' would follow the last word starting with 'wy...' (since I don't think there's a wz... word)

There's a thought - how does it "rank" in alphabetical order in a dictionary if part of it is numbers?
