I've seen this a couple times now and every time it bugs the crap out of me. Why do people reply to a discussion when all they are going to tell the person is they have no clue about the topic? Like I was just in the dog intrest discussion and some one replied just to say they didn't have a dog or a cat for that matter. Are you kidding?! Does this happen to you? Do you reply with no answer or would you just move on?

Yes, I've had this happen a few times and how I react really depends on the situation. Sometimes I can honestly say "Thanks for trying" because I knew it was one of those topics that may be too specific for many people to answer but at least they read it and said what they could even if it was nothing more that "I have never been in that situation and don't know what to say"...that can count as support if nothing else. Other times when I feel a rude edge to their response I just mark it negative and don't reply to it...although sometimes I have responded with a disguised rude comment back. "Thank you for not reading anything I wrote" is a safe one. But pammid did bring up a good point...a lot of good discussions get lost because no one comments on them before they get buried under newer posts. So sometimes even if my first response is totally off, I'll still give them a + just for giving my discussion a second chance to be noticed.

Sorry I got side tracked, if I have nothing to say then I don't even try to respond. It would just be a waste of my time and their's.

I skip those discussions because if I've got nothing to say, well, I've got nothing to say. It is a waste of my time and yours if I have nothing valuable to add. When I see those types of responses in my discussions, I often rate them negative.
