Is the Shooter a Sniper?

The movie of Mark Wahlberg is great but I can't understand if he's a sniper or a gunner? Because a sniper would be very hard to find and will not easily give away his position by running, dodging, planting explosives, save his gf or friend. He could have easily silenced his enemies in the mountain scene no witnesses except his accomplices but he instead done everything mentioned above against what a sniper would really do. What's your take on this?

he looks more like an assassin... but too loud....makes people notice him... he shoots at the farmhouse without silencers

That's an awesome movie and you know that movies are fiction so we watch and expect what we dont in real lives so everything is possible in fiction.
