With friends like this who needs enemies?

Has anyone ever had a long time friend who, when they find someone else to hang out with, totally ignore you? I have been friends with someone for over 20 years and they do this to me. I noticed a couple of weeks ago, she wasn't returning my emails and she didn't call me. I called her and she didn't act like anything was wrong. Then she made up lame excuses as to why she couldn't come to my daughter's birthday party (we usually go to her kids' bday parties). I haven't really talked to her since. She sent me a message on myspace yesterday telling me her same old excuse as to why she didn't come, then went on to brag about something else. Ugh..why do I even bother being friends with her????? Thanks for letting me rant :).

Some people are just rude & inconsiderate. It's really there loss. If you lived by me I'd love to have you as a friend & treat you better. We all get busy with our lives and such but theres better ways of handling it.

aww, thanks for your reply. I agree, people do get busy with their lives, but this really wasn't the case. It was more or less she found someone else to hang out with and totally ignored me. I think I got the point across to her that I was tired of her just being a friend to me when it was convenient to her. I think it's cool she has other friends, but she shouldn't ignore someone she's called a friend for over 20 years.

If your friend is such a b--ch like you described....I think its better off not having her as a friend... True friends will never treat you like that.....

There are other people who see it too..like my mom, my sisters, my husband, and another friend of mine. I think the reason I keep talking to her is because we grew up together. But when I think about it, she never has been a really good friend to me, but I kept making excuses for her. I don't really know why..
