Will Mcgee ever evolve?

He has not become a better field agent. Sure you might say he is more useful in the lab or that he has improved, but it is annoying that so much time has passed and that, while more confident, he remains unassertive, never shoots, seems to always be a trainee and all in all, remains exactly the same. Will he ever evolve?

I guess McGee somehow evolve as field agent. Remember the episode Witness (season 2) when Gibbs gave him a test regarding a murder crime. It was his first crime, compare to the episode "cover story" (season 4). He has more confidence in this season. I think he grown up because he doesn't want to be called "probie" in early part of season 4.

I think he has evovled. There is almost never any reason to shoot and he would if it was called for. He stands up to the boss as much as anyone does and really takes very little off of Tony.

I don't understand what you mean (maybe we watch in different season???), but i watch also NCIS and i like Mcgee ;) In my point, he is good NCIS agent and also famous writer, i like him. Maybe the character is not too confident but i just like his action in NCIS hehehe...
