In all honesty, I have no idea. At first I thought it came from the Americans but then I made a research when I encountered this discussion and here's what I've learned. French fries rally came from Belguim. here's the site where I got it from http://www.lutosa.be/uk/products/the-origin-of-french-fries/. I have a question, where did French kiss cam from? LOL!!

Guess cogh they started in Belgium as they have enormous potatoes fields and a taste for culinary. Some of the best fries - pomme frites - I've tested were in Belgium restaurants, they even eat that in opera houses, can you believe that. Belgium speaks French and the British might not have the time to find out who created this delicious food. Of course, they were in the middle of several wars that the winner could take them all - the potatoes lol ;)

The Belgians claim that French fries are Belgian. One of the Belgian historian poor inhabitants of some part of Belgium used to have their meals with small fried fish, but when the river was frozen they used to fry potatoes lengthwise an have them with their meal. So I guess its origin is Belgium.
