MyLot - PROOF Peace On Earth IS Possible?

What do you think? I decided to start this discussion feeling very sure then as I typed the subject I decided at the very last second to add a question mark. But, really I think it's true; myLot is proof we really can have peace of Earth and goodwill to man - and woman of course...lol. Here in this wonderful online community we have men and women from all over the world, of all ages, from all fields, of different races and cultures. It's a true melting pot! I've made wonderful friends from many different places and many of whom aren't at all close to my own age, many who have a totally different view on religion and politics but I still love and respect them. And whil of course there are some "bad apples" here - we call them trolls and stalkers - and there have been members treated very unfairly just by the way we as members and friends have handled things that have come up tells me we could serve as a wonderful model for the outside world to follow. Sure, we've had posters come one and insult and disrespect others but the minute that happens we have countless other members come to the defense of the innocent party and let the guilty party know their actions aren't appreciated. I've seen many cases where someone who didn't even agree with the person being trashed stepped in to defend them. Tell me, is that a wonderful, peaceful, DIPLOMATIC way of doing things or what? I have lots more I could say here, but I want to see what the rest of you think, too. So, come on, let's discuss it on this Christmas Eve (Christmas Day already for some of you); am I crazy or do you think I've got something here? Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, & have a wonderful day whatever you celebrate! Hey, why not a Festivus for the Restivus? Annie

oh I agree with you 100% I can and have said in other posts Mylot has actually taught me to be more tolerant in many ways, I have met some wonderful people in here and this is one reason I felt I had to stand with the friends of someone who has been made a victim, I don't like to see people treated unfairly as I tend to put myself in peoples shoes these days, I love being here on Mylot and I really don't want to have to go from here but I feel if people can be left to be treated this way, I feel I must go, but I am still hoping truth will prevail....

MyLot has taught me a great deal too. I feel just as you do about putting myself in other people's shoes. I hate seeing someone treated unjustly, even if I don't know them personally it's just not right! I'm hoping truth will prevail as well. The admin. has to know by now we mean business, don't you think? Annie

Yes I would imagine admin would have to be aware by now, I just hope they understand our side of it and that we are not being ungrateful to them but standing by a friend, that is not a bad thing...

and I might add I have in the past stood by Mylot in exactly the same way...so I am really hoping fairness does prevail here.

I couldn't agree with you more annie. When you think of it, this place is almost like the UN of the cyber world. Yes, there are bad apples, there are insulting people, there are people that disagree with us or we them, but for the most part, for such a relatively large community as this one, we do pretty much get along, and do come from all walks of life, cultures, races and religions. Too bad the rest of the world can't get along as well as we do here

Of course there are bad apples and everything is far from "perfect" but what can we expect, right? Just from looking at all these puppies is an example; do all of us who now have the puppy avator agree on everything? Heck, no, but we have come together for a common "cause" we all DO agree on! In myLot as in the rest of the world, for all our many differences we have more in common than not, when you really think about it. There are exceptions and those exceptions are quite glaring, of course. There are complete nutcases out there and probably "in here" but they're the exception rather than the rule. I just wish we could all embrace our commonalities instead of only looking at the differences. Annie

Isn't it interesting how well people can get along when we aren't being influenced by race and culture and social status and all those other things people usually use to judge others. When there is no "leader" and a truly citizen run "government". When our "laws" allow for free speech as long as we're civil about it....and when punishment is swift and equal regardless (we won't get into the fairness of punishment *wink*, I'm trying to be all positive).

You're right. Being here in this online community is really great. I learned a lot of things here and I was able to enhance my ability to communicate with other people around the world. Mylot has helped me a lot and I gained a lot of friends here. I am blessed to have been involved here. :-)

Yeah...you're right..I really do agree with your idea. I believe that people will be able to create a harmonious relationship by the use of online community and not just the online community but the personal community as well. The existence of respect towards other people can lead to a harmonious, peaceful environment, a peaceful world. It's never impossible to have a peaceful world. Everything, every moves, every decision relies on how we act and how to think towards other people. Being nice to others depends how we want to treat other people. It is definitely beyond our control. It is also undeniable that we people, an imperfect one, we do commit mistakes. We have limitations that's why sometimes we do get mad, but then still the way how we deal with our emotions depends upon us. If we think we hurt other people then we should apologize for that and ask for forgiveness. I believe that a simple HI or HELLO can create a peaceful environment especially if the word SORRY do exists and the word LOVE is present.

Ah- i hate to break it, but I do not believe that peace is possible on Earth. I mean, after all, people will always have disagreements with one another. But on the positive side, disagreements are what make the society grow as a whole. If it wasnt for disagreements, then "evolution" would not have taken place. And I am not talking about the evolution as "changing" shape. But mental evolution. Thats my personal belief on things.

I don't define "peace" as meaning there are no disagreements among people, that IS an impossible dream, and I'm not sure one I'd even like to reach. Without disagreements there would be no new ideas - as you called it, no mental evolution. My point is these disagreements don't have to lead to war or to declaring someone has one's enemy. We can discuss things maturely and sometimes even change our minds or we can agree to disagree but still be respectful of each other and - SHOCK - still be friends! Annie

Yeah it's a pretty nice community isn't it? But of course there are also "black sheep" troublemakers. Oh well, they're everywhere I guess.
