My oldest found out about santa this year around easter and wasn't really disappointed this year...she had it all figured out and she was only 6...i guess we didn't do that good a job of hiding it....She seemed to like it better this year...helping with the wrapping and picking out gifts and just in the season more than the gifts this year....How about your children...what is there christmas spirit like now that they know there is no santa

With my children I told them another version of the Santa Claus story. I told my children that a long time ago there was a man by the name of Nicholas that gave all of the children in his village a toy for Christmas. Nicholas never asked the children for anything in return for his gift to them. Nicholas is Santa Claus. Nicholas passed away a long time ago but these days to keep the spirit of Christmas alive anyone can be Santa Claus as long as you give without asking for anything in return. My children don't believe that a fat jolly man comes down the chimney to deliver toys like most children. But the do believe that anyone can be Santa if their just willing to think of others instead of themselves.

That is beautiful. I think they have materialized christmas sooooo much. It is sad really. My husband gave his first child soooo much that now he has to do it every year for all the kids its getting harder each year as they get older and want the higher ticket items. My oldest loved this year and i was surprised by it but she really enjoyed the giving this year...she realized it wasn't just about the getting...she wanted to give her father a new set of golf clubs...a little out of her price range but she found somethinga little more adequete. thanks for the response it it lovely what you have taught your children.

I was telling my friends and family how shocked I was that my ten year old still believed in Santa. Well, it turns out he knows there is no Santa he figured it out this year. My step-father says it's good he doesn't still believe, he says 10 is too old to believe in Santa. I didn't confirm my son's suspicions, but I'm sure he's on to us. Luckily my six year old still believes.

I really don't remember how old my kids were when they found out Santa wasn't real. Maybe about 10 or 11. I have 3 grandkids, and the oldest is 11. He knew at 8 or 9. The other 2 are 5 & 8 years old. They still believe. I think it is sad when they find out to early, because Christmas is supposed to be magical for children. I always loved seeing the looks of surprise and excitment on the kids faces Christmas morning after Santa had come.

Thanks for the response I thought that she would be disappointed with christams after she found out but she wasn't, She helped with most of the wrapping and was much more generous this year. She is a very generous girl so realizing that christmas is more about giving then receive was ok with her. She was sooooo surprised this year as well she loved everything she got and she really didn't do any type of list but i knew what she liked anyways but it was still a good christmas for us
