UPS and FedEx Goof Stories

In a discussion by a friend here the subject of errors made by UPS and FedEx came up. I promised to tell of a couple of mine and thought it might be amusing to start a discussion, as I am sure most everyone has a few of these to share.. So I begin with the stories I promised and invite you to share yours. I remember the time I had ordered several bottles of rather expensive essential oils to be used for soapmaking.. package clearly marked fragile.. sitting in my living room, I hear the PS truck drive up.. knowing the 'skill' of some of their drivers, I am peeking out my window as I watch the delivery man step up to the bottom of my stairs and toss the box, thmp, against the door.. I run out to find a box with oils dripping from the bottom leaking onto my porch.. a few choice words to him about his inability to read the word fragile, stamped in large red letters on all sides of the box.. yes, I made UPS pay for replacement.. Perhaps the most comical was one lovely weekday morning.. being up early and deciding to run my errands early, I arrive home to find a 12 wheeler PS truck in my driveway with two men happily umloading boxes onto my lawn, as my porch was already packed to the point I could not reach my door.. What the heck?.. I come up to them to find that they are delivering 22,000 tshirts to my house!!! At that time I was living on a street named Champion Street... In our town was a Champion Products plant (the ones who make tshirts and sweatchirts sold nationwide).. I had to argue with the nuts that hey, didn't it seem odd that a plant would be run out of a home? and that the addresses did not match, and that no sign reading Champion Products was in eveidence around my house, and that I was obviously in a residential neighborhood? So there I am on the phone with UPS (which I call UPutitSomewhere).. that the delivery was way off base.. they actually had the nerve to tell me they would charge me for the redelivery!! Fortunately in my state if something is delivered which you do not order you have the option to keep it as a gift.. their tune changed drastically when I informed them I was aware of this statute and thanked them for their gift.. I gave them 12 hours to get the boxes from my yard and informed them that if this did not happen, I would be holding one big a**ed yard sale the next day.. I also called the management of Champion Products and made them aware of the problem.. and yes UPS did come to pick the darned things up, same guys, no smarter I imagine, that afternoon.. FedEx (I call then FedEx-cuse me but we lost your package) is quite funny here where I live now.. our house is the last on the route for our drivers, and we get anything they have left in the truck it seems.. once again the law works in our favor, as I am not required to notify them, after 5 days the items are ours, including some very nice household items, and even a vcr.. I only wish I could put an ad on the truck "dear customer if we have once again lost your package please contact (my phone number), it is probably there.. this happens so commonly that neighbors in the area will call us if a package is missing.. And let us not forget our fine postal service.. At the time I was living on the aforementioned Champion Street I lived right behind a Burger King, I constantly received their mail because my last name is King.. I found it odd that the carrier could not see the huge Burger King sign on the building he was facing as he put their mail in my mailbox.. but the BK manager was very sweet, when I brought his mail to him I got free food lol.. Soo as I enjoy a good laugh, let me hear your delivery boo boo stories.. all are funny though I hazard tto think my boxes of tshirts might be the biggest lol.. so sad they came to get them.. even at $1 each I could have paid for a car rofl..

After the 3rd mis-delivered package for the lady down the street - and YES, I did call UPS to redeliver all of them. I just kept the 3rd one. You know, they haven't mis-delivered anymore in almost a year!

Probably because the one I kept, kind of like the teeshirts, was from a major medical company that had to probably redeliver the package. They could lose a lot of $$ if they pulled their contract and be sued by customers who needed medicine & didn't get it AND the medical as well as their own insurance companies would also just them on it. Or maybe they just fired that jerk - tho I know for a fact that the drivers are a longed for job for a lot of UPS employees (I used to work with the wivies of a couple of them.)

Wow, they really do mess up with you guys. I don't have any stories like that. I usually don't have trouble. Sorry you do, but at least they make it exciting. I cannot imagine having all those shirts sitting in my yard. That is crazy!!

It was hilarious actually.. all my neighbors laughed about it for months, in a small town, a large truck like that backing up into someone's drive really attracts attention.
