It is not that they are priests that they become pedophiles, but they were pedophiles to begin with and choose the priesthood so that they could get a supply of young boys to abuse. It is the same way with the Residential schools on the Indian Reservations in Canada and I suppose in the States. Men who were pedophiles and abusers of children applied for positions as teachers, janitors, etc. just as applying as positions as coaches because of having all those young boys to abuse. So instead of becoming a priest, because they wanted to get closer to God, do good works, or help someone spiritually, they joined because of their own evil lusts. Now, I am not a Roman Catholic, but I know that there is a tendency to believe that all men are good and it is only the exceptional ones that are evil. That is the whole trouble with this pedophile business. The Church believes that this person was an exception not a rule, and believe that by praying over him, that that man will suddenly stop what he is doing. So when the priests who are pedophiles cry a lot and say that they will not do it again, the Church says You are forgiven, forgetting that man's soul is evil and only Christ can change his heart.

You are right.: only Christ can change the hearts. But the church should know that we are under the law of Men as well. People must comply with the law. We can make mistakes and have regrets until we can be forgiven but that does not mean that we pay for our mistake.. If committed crime must pay and be forgiven.. but the culprit has to serv the sentence imposed by Law.

That is why a Roman or Jewish official ran to the cross where the thief of the cross who wanted to be remembered by Jesus, did not say that he was innocent. He still had to pay. Also it depends on what law of man one is under. During Nazi Germany, they had a law of man that was contrary to God's law. However, in most cases, the law of man and the law of God are compatible. So if one commits a crime, steals or murders someone, he cannot go and say "now I am a Christian, all should be forgiven." If Christ has changed his heart, he will be in heaven, but he still has to sit in the chair and get electrocuted, get the gas inserted in him, have the hangman's noose around his neck, or spend the most of his life in prison.

wow, i'm a kinda interesting as to what religion do you belong but anyway i'm great and thankful that there are people like you who realize the this mistakes. someone have posted in our website and he couldn't believed that this is happening in the catholic church, imagine there are almost five thousand priest in the US alone who is practicing phedophile. According to a reliable sources, one's the priest will commit crime like this they will transfer it from another chapel to another chapel inorder to cover mistakes and there is one person who is incharge of the transfer because they couldn't fire out a priest. why? because the number of priest is getting lessen.

when the church transfers a guilty priest to another city it causes more crimes because the culprit is once again among unsuspecting people
