What a way to start the new year

I know, it doesn't actually START until tomorrow, but I woke up with a stopped up head a while ago. I thought - oh, just my allergies. Now that I've been for a bit, I can feel that old demon, post-nasal drip burning down the back of my throat. That means I’m sick. If this is happening today, that means I’ll be good in sick not today, but later in the week - after the new year. I have a friend who has a theory that what you do on New Years Day you will do the rest of the year. I hope this doesn’t mean I’ll be working and sick a lot! I have to be extra careful when I work sick because my client has low lung capacity. So, my thought... What a way to start the new year!

Aww, so sorry to hear your getting sick....Did you ever hear about that Zinc medicine or something like that....you take it at the first sign of a cold and its suppose to help you get better really fast. I've never tried it yet but maybe it'll help you a little. I know how you feel though with all the allergies...every time my nose gets stopped up I think that's what it is, but we really know when were getting sick. Hope you get well very soon....try to think positive if that's possible at all (maybe this will be your only cold all year)....I'll try sending good healthy vibes your way!

Good idea, Kashmere! I'll go raid the roomie's zinc stock now that I've got food in my stomach. One thing this "bear" has learned is to never take meds on an empty stomach.

I don't buy it Sweets..I mean I will most likely will be shoveling snow tomorrow and chances are I won't be doing that in July! Take at the least 1000mg vit C tonight and twice a day for the next couple of days...You will get ovetr it faster then usual..If I lived closer I would drop off some Defend and Resist from Shaklee and you would feel better tomorrow... xoxoxoxo

Oh, the thing is, that you may not be shoveling snow, but if you work hard around the house on New Years Day, then you will be working hard the rest of the year too.

Yes, I wake up with that allergy stuff too. So after reading your post, I'm wondering if I should stay up all night long. Because I get that stuff worse after I sleep. If I sleep through New Year's Eve, I'll wake up with it on New Year's Day. : )

Seems alot of ppl both here and offline are coming down with some illness or other lately. I'm praying I don't get sick cause I have to work no matter how sick I get and can't take anything that will make me drowsy since my job requires me to drive for several hours with lots of starts/stops down mostly country roads with very deep ditches. Maybe if you start popping the meds. now and drink lots of tea/chicken soup, you won't get so sick. Happy New Year!

Aww--sorry to hear you have that first twinges of coming down with something...I saw Kashmersmycat suggest the zinc thing, also good to build the immune system is to take echinacea supplements, also garlic pills as they are a natural antibiotic. And of course that great, grand old cure, chicken soup..hey couldn't hurt. One remedy my great-grandmother was famous for was piping hot tea, lemon AND a shot of brandy--Hope you feel better. Least my plumbing business was "cured" hehee

Glad to hear the plumbing all worked out. I have a problem with echinacea, I'm allergic to ragweed & the stuff makes my nose itch/run. My roomie's idea of chicken soup runs more to chicken stew when I'm needing more of a broth. Ahhh well....
