What makes a discussion a "top discussion"?

How does a discussion qualify as part of "today's top discussions?" I've noticed that sometimes there are discussions there that only have one response so it can't be the number of people who respond. Does any one know what the criteria is for a discussion to be labeled a top discussion?

I am not really sure about their system in categorizing a topic as part of today's top discussions. Perhaps, it depends on the popularity, relevance, and usefulness of a particular discussion. :-)

you're right...i also wonder what makes up a top discussion...if you also noticed, some of the "top discussions" seem to be a very simple question yet they are in the "top discussions"...it is definitely not the number of respondents...maybe it's based on the member's rank level?
