In Romania, we eat many pork-based products for Christmas. Maybe the best product is called "sarmale" and it's some kind of meat mix balls rolled in cabbage.

I've never heard of "salame gelato"...sounds yummy. My favorite Christmas food this year was struffoli (honey fritters) which my mom hadn't made in years...we couldn't stop eating them :)

The best food was, i can't choose, everything was sooo good. I ate Christmas food first with my Youth Pastor and a very good friend, than with my friends at church, Twice at home and once at my grand mother. If i have to choose it must be Jansons frestelse, or Jansons temptasions directly transferred to English. Its a classic Anjovies dish, a sort of gratin made of Potatoes, Onions and Anjovies. The onion and potatoes are pealed. After that a grater is used to grate the potatoes and the onions are sliced to thin slices. All is putt in a ovenform and Milk and/or cream is poured over it. the dish is then baked in the oven. If you choose not to use Anjovies you get instead a Svenssons Frestelse or Swenssons Temptation.
