Has a recent event, caused you to view humankind more positively?

I seem to be constantly surrounded by people who have lost 'their faith' in the human race. It seems I'm all too often reminded by others, that humanity is on a swift and steady decline. I don't know how you feel about this, but for me, these negative attitudes can become very discouraging. I'm 'by no means suggesting' that we should place 'our faith' in the human race. This is not what I mean here. I'd just like you to share a positive event, or events, that you've been aware of recently, or have had a personal experience with, that have made you see 'the goodness' in people. For me, the two things that come to mind, are both online experiences. The first one, involves a group of people that have never actually met, who conspired together to deliver a very special Christmas surprise, to a deserving individual. The second one, the reinstatement of someone who'd been falsely accused, and banned from an online forum, that they loved. Many people joined together, to stand up for this person, and when it seemed 'all hope was lost,' their priviledges were fully restored. I'm looking forward to hearing some positive experiences here.

Hi my friend I feel the same way. For me I wont be around negative people because like you said it really does effect us. It really does pay off to stick together when you believe in something or somebody. And as you know being reinstated is my event. Something I will never forget. Thankyou! Hugs!

Hi Terry, It's good to avoid people who are negative 'most of the time,' if at all possible. It can be hard to do so at times though. Your 'event' is certainly one with a happy ending, and it sure has proved that the power of many, can bring positive results. Hugs to you too.:)

Hello. Of course that the human kind has its positive sides! We should aways remember the monuments we have raised! The fireworks show on the New Year! The thousands of people who are helping each other right now! Non-Governamental Organizations! There are a lot of things that happens nowadays showing the human kind is not lost. The problem is that the News, the media and everything else likes to promote the scandals, the bad things. They should show a lot of the other part aswell. Nice of you to post this discussion, thank you very much for this. Respectfully.

Hi munhozmib, You make some very good points here. The media, in their attempt to gain viewers, readers, etc., do tend to focus on the negative aspects of society. I've always enjoyed it, when some news shows hire (usually young) people, to report events that would be considered good news. You're very welcome. Thanks for sharing, and have a great day.:)

I like to help people, as well, and it is good to get away from all of the bad news, for awhile. Take care.:)

Hi gabs, I must say, I've been extremely pleasantly surprised, by the favourable actions of the site. This has helped to restore my faith in them. The 'first incident' doesn't surprise me, but was a very welcome, and unexpected one, just the same. Maybe it's a question of balance, and not seeing more negatives than positives, or vice versa. Being careful about anything, is always good advice. Thanks so much, for your response.:)

Not really. I try my best to look at all things positively but I don't put many into that section, as I know most people couldn't care less about anyone else other than themself and there family. Still, it's always nice to stumble across those few who still believe in being kind, caring and great people. ^ most of those above would if they didn't shut off and opened up. ~Joey

Hi Joey, I'm fortunate to know of people who do genuinely care for others, and this includes those I've met online. I hope things are brighter for you again soon, as I know there are alot of people on here, who care about you. It is hard to communicate with people who 'are closed.' Thanks for sharing here. Take care.

Very good examples sweety! For myself my health and mobility have shown me how many wonderful people I am surrounded by both online and in real time! From sending me emails to make me laugh , being there to speak to me, helping with the children, practical help , love and support through prayer and well wishes I would never have realised how many good people are around me without this period in my life - maybe I have gone through this for a reason? I know I am guilty of thinking the world is in a terrible way when you see some of the horrible things that go on but if you look back centuries people felt the same way, thank you for the reminder of all the good things that we humans try to do for each other and or all other species as well xxxx

You are so very welcome, mummymo.:) I'm glad to hear that you're surrounded by such loving, caring people at this time. It makes the world of difference, when things are at their darkest, to have this kind of support. By the way, you're a very kind, loving person yourself, and I really appreciate your friendship. Take care.

Omg! Hehe..I know very well the two such episodes you are describing me...hehe..yes, first of all it was amazing how so many of use banded together for a fellow friend here and got her back...and of course there was that Christmas miracle of mine...I was so flabbergasted by that and STILL haven't a clue who the "angels" were that did that.. Well another event took place...About a month ago, I kept hearing about this worldwide special event that was to take place...Oprah Winfrey was going to have a live webcast with author Eckhart Tolle who wrote A New Earth..this book sounded right up my alley and I wanted to sign up for the webcast..it's on every Monday at around 9:00 p.m....but naturally to really participate you had to have the book and read it...each week was and is to discuss each of the ten chapters. Well had no money to get the book..but I went to the Oprah.com website and went to the discussion boards there. and posted a topic "Would Love to Read This Book...But" I related how I wanted to participate in the webcast and watch the interview, but just couldn't get the book..the library was out of it and on reserve until something like next year with the waiting list, and couldn't buy the book. Well, okay. Leave the boards and moved on to do other things for awhile...then came back to it...YIKES...there was a response to my topic and this woman gave her email addy and said to contact her..she would send a copy of the book to me...free! Long story short, she did indeed mail it to me, new copy, priority mail and I had it in my hands two days later..she was from CALIF--we now regularly email each other--I offered to pay her once I had the money and she wouldn't hear of it...I also asked her if she wore earrings as I make some jewelry and even offered to send her one pair to her..wouldn't her of it...like WOW! Yes someonesmom, it can be very easy to lose faith in humankind in general especially watching the news which is so negative..but there are great people out there..too bad they never get in the news...right? Like gee, what would happen if the news suddenly only told "good" stories?

Hi pye, Yes, both of these events were truly amazing, and I'm happy to have been a member of 'the puppy club,' for such a good cause. You still don't know who helped with your Christmas surprise? Well ... What a wonderful thing for you, that this complete stranger sent you the book ... wow. There used to be a local t.v. station, that hired college or university students each summer (likely journalism majors), and they'd call them 'good news reporters.' They'd feature one of their stories during each regular news broadcast. I really loved this, and they came up with some really amazing things, like acts by 'good samaritans,' positive animal stories, etc. I don't think they have this feature anymore. It figures, as it was a number of years ago, and it seems these days, they only want to report the tragedies etc. Thanks for sharing this.

If it were me, I'd really want to know too, as I hate not knowing these kinds of things.
