If I died...

my body would be badly decomposed and stink to high heavens before anybody realized I wasn't around. My landlord might be the first to inquire because he'd wonder why he didn't get a check for the rent. Even though I have friends, we're not in touch every day. Sometimes weeks go by. I don't think my neighbors notice one way or the other whether I'm on the go or not. My cat would run out of food. Maybe she'd "meow" loud enough for someone to inquire. Hmm, it's kind of a morbid thought, but it sure is a realistic possibility. I hope I don't die at home alone. I guess this is a strange subject to put in "Life."

This is indeed a morbid thought. I used to think so myself when I lived in my house by myself and my kids where away at university. Now I live in a high rise condo and close to my son who phones me every couple of days. Also neighbours in the building seem to look out for one another. My neighbour across the hall is a frail retired clergyman living by himself. When his newspaper sat at his door for two days I went to the building management who contacted a relative. It turns out he had been admitted to hospital. You could also join senor's groups and make more friends and form a group that will phone each other at appointed times. Cheer up, likely you have many more years to live.

Thanks for your encouraging words. It's not that I constantly think about the possibility of dying alone. It was just that hit me when I posted. I'm still fairly young comparatively (63). I just don't take real good care of my health consistently.
